Greg Rusedski races through in Paris Masters
Greg Rusedski stayed on course and overtook Tim Henman as the British
number one when he breezed through the first round of the Paris
Masters.
The 32-year-old player wrapped up a straightforward 6-3 6-4 victory over Italy's Andreas Seppi.
A patient Greg Rusedski timed his strokes well to break him in the
opening set and came back from 2-0 down to break him twice to claim an
easy win.
Greg Rusedski now needs to win one more match to topple Tim Henman in the rankings.
"I felt really comfortable out there and am starting to feel like I'm playing really well," Greg Rusedski told Sky Sports.
"One more match and I get back to British number one so I'm pleased.
"I guess I'll keep going because I want to become British number one by the end of the year."
However the Briton faces a difficult second-round tie in Paris as he comes up against third seed Nicolay Davydenko.
The big-serving Russian, who is the world number seven, is hoping to
secure his place in the season-ending Masters Cup for the top eight
players in the rankings.
