Elena Dementieva beat Jelena Jankovic in JP Morgan Chase Open

dementieva Russian tennis player Elena Dementieva overcame her fears and defeated Jelena Jankovic to win the JP Morgan Chase Open in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Elena Dementieva, 24, won 6-3 4-6 6-4 in two hours 30 minutes for her second tournament win of this year and the eighth of her career.

"Finally, a big win," said Elena Dementieva. "I hope I'm becoming a more consistent player.

"I feel like it's just starting for me. I'm just getting to my best game," Elena Dementieva added.

After accomplishing a 5-0 lead in the final set, Elena Dementieva showed signs of the nerves that had been a problem in the past, especially when serving and she missed two match points and was twice broken when serving for the match.

"I was so close to finishing the match, 5-0, and then she started to play really well," said Elena Dementieva. "She did so many unbelievable shots."
