Dinara Safina beats Anne Keothavong in French Open

dinara safinaRussian tennis star Dinara Safina has defeated the UK's Anne Keothavong with a 6-0 6-0 score in the first round of the French Open.

23-year-old Safina played an easy first set and Keothavong, despite being the British number one, was unable to match her opponent for speed or power.

The world number one was in command of the game all the way through the second set as well and went on to win the match in just 61 minutes of play.

It wasn't that Keothavong, who is currently ranked number 48 in the world ratings, was playing below her ability but she simply was unable to match the skill of her Russian opponent.

The victorious Safina now goes forward to take on a fellow Russian tennis star when she faces Vitalia Diatchenko in a bid to get through to round three.
