Chilean tennis star Fernando Gonzalez beats Tommy Haas

fernando gonzalez Chilean tennis star Fernando Gonzalez, who is aptly nicknamed "Speedy," made a brilliant performance as he easily defeated Germany's Tommy Haas to book his place at the Grand Slam final at the Australian Open.

Seeded 10th, Fernando Gonzalez claimed a 6-1 6-3 6-1 victory and in doing so to set up a meeting with world number one Roger Federer on Sunday.

"It was a really good day for me," Fernando Gonzalez said, and he added: "I have been playing great tennis. I am enjoying it a lot."

But for 12th-seeded Tommy Haas, it was an overwhelming and frustrating disappointment.

"I played actually pretty good tennis," Tommy Haas explained.

"Every time I tried to do something differently, he came up with the answer. That's quite frustrating. I just have to hand it to him, tip the hat, say that's too good. Nothing I could have done," Tommy Haas added.
