Britian's Tim Henman and Andy Murray have tricky draws for Australia
British tennis stars Tim Henman and Andy Murray have both received tricky first-round draws at next week's Australian Open.
Tim Henman will have to beat Russia's Dimitry Tursunov, who overcame
him at Wimbledon last year, while Andy Murray will face the Argentinean
player Juan Ignacio Chela.
British number two Greg Rusedski is not competing because his wife, Lucy, is expecting their baby.
Top seed Roger Federer is pitted against Denis Istomin while defending women's champion Serena Williams faces Na Li.
Tim Henman, who was not seeded after slipping to 36 in the world
rankings, could meet 16th seed Spain's Tommy Robredo if he beats
Dimitry Tursunov.
The British number one is aiming to reach the last 16 for the fourth time.
In contrast to this, Andy Murray, the British number three, is making
his debut at the Australian Open and is also playing against Ignacio
Chela for the first time.
The winner is likely to face the home favourite Lleyton Hewitt, who is seeded three.
In the women's event, top seed Lindsay Davenport plays against Australian wildcard Casey Dellacqua.
Former world number one Martina Hingis, who came out of retirement
earlier this month, faces 30th seed Vera Zvonareva after receiving a
wildcard and fourth seed Maria Sharapova, who leads a formidable
Russian challenge, opens against Germany's Sandra Kloesel.
