Andy Roddick beats Nicolas Mahut at Queen's Club
American tennis star Andy Roddick showed why he is a top name in the sort when he battled back to defeat Nicolas Mahut 4-6 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (7-2) and become winner of a fourth Artois Championships title at Queen's Club.
French tennis player Nicolas Mahut, who is ranked 106th in the rankings, had control of the first set and had no problems winning it, and then Andy Roddick survived a match point in the second.
However, Andy Roddick, 24, showed what he is made of when he took the tie-break and ensured a deciding set.
The decider also went to a tie-break, but with Andy Roddick finishing with a 7-2 victory.
Afterwards, Andy Roddick said: " Nicolas made me dig really deep. He was outplaying me for most of the match, I had to keep fighting and I was able to get a bit lucky.
"If he keeps playing like that, he will be up there (near the top of the rankings) in no time."
With his fourth title at Queen's Club, Andy Roddick has beaten his coach Jimmy Connors, who won at the same venue in 1972, 1982 and 1983.
