Andre Agassi's last tennis match against Andrei Pavel gets showcase treatment
Veteran tennis star Andre Agassi's first-round match at the US Open against Andrei Pavel has been given the showcase slot on the Arthur Ashe court at around 0130 BST on Monday.
Andre Agassi, 36, is making his 21st straight, and final, appearance at Flushing Meadows before he retires from the sport.
Andre Agassi, the 1994 and 1999 tennis champion, has been fighting against a chronic back injury but he is determined to put on a good show.
"I'm sure I'm underestimating everything I'm going to feel and experience," Andre Agassi said.
"This has been the stage to prove myself over the years.
"I grew into loving this more than any place in the world so I look forward to sharing one more go-around," Andre Agassi added.
More than 200 players turned out to pay tribute to Andre Agassi at an ATP players' meeting on the eve of the tournament and he was given a two-minute standing ovation.
