American tennis superstar Andre Agassi retiring after US Open Veteran tennis star and ex-Wimbledon champion Andre Agassi says he will be retiring from tennis after this year's US Open, which starts on 28 August.
Andre Agassi, 36, has won eight Grand Slam singles titles in his career and is one of only five players to have won all four Grand Slam events and he is a former world number one and has pocketed winnings of more than £17m.
Andre Agassi won his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 1992 and has also claimed the Australian Open four times, the US Open twice and the French Open once.
"This Wimbledon will be my last and the US Open will be my last tournament," said Andre Agassi.
Andre Agassi was victorious over Goran Ivanisevic for five sets in the final to win Wimbledon 14 years ago and defeated former champions Boris Becker and John McEnroe on the way.
Andre Agassi returns this summer after being awayfor the last two years and will face Boris Pashanski of Serbia in the first round.
Andre Agassi has struggled with a back injury and he came back to tennis last week after almost three months away only to lose to Tim Henman in the Stella Artois Championships.
