American tennis star Serena Williams beats sister Venus
American tennis star Serena Williams managed to beat her sister Venus Williams despite a real battle to win the semi-final at the Bangalore Open.
The two sisters Serena and Venus Williams were playing against each other for the first time since 2005 and it was Serena who won with a 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7-4) score.
Serena Williams, 26, now takes her head-to-head record against older sister Venus Williams, 27, to 8-7 in the lead.
Serena Williams, who had missed a match point before taking the tie-break, said afterwards: "It was definitely hard fought. I need to get refocused in quick time. It's probably one of our closest matches. Neither one of us was playing our best tennis."
And Venus Williams complimented her sister's performance when she said: "She always plays really tough, really challenging. She hit some serves that I really couldn't return."
