American tennis star Andy Roddick beats Radek Stepanek
American tennis star Andy Roddick won his first title this year when he defeated Czech player Radek Stepanek in the final of the San Jose Open.
Andy Roddick, 25, won by a score of 6-4 7-5 and in so doing he claimed his first ATP Tour trophy since August as well as his third San Jose win.
Andy Roddick said happily: "Sometimes it's about staying alive in a tournament and giving yourself a chance to play well. The more you play, the more comfortable you feel on court. I'm happy I found my form."
Andy Roddick broke Radek Stepanek in the opening game of the match when the latter player missed a forehand volley.
But although Andy Roddick was in the lead Radek Stepanek played much better in the second set and for a while it looked as if the game perhaps might not be Andy Roddick's after all.
However, Andy Roddick soon showed he was in command and went on to win the match.
