Swimmer Michael Phelps not worried about Beijing schedule
Swimmer Michael Phelps is not worried by the controversial schedule at next year's Beijing Olympics and says it won't have any effect on his bid to win a record eight gold medals.
The finals for swimming at the prestigious event will be held in the morning, in part due to lobbying by the American TV network NBC, but Michael Phelps declared: "I have no preference."
Michael Phelps, 21, who won six Olympic golds in 2004 said confidently: "I'm going to step up and swim as fast as I can whether it's morning or night."
And this is no vain boasting because Michael Phelps recently won seven gold medals at the World Championships, which equalled the achievement of American star Mark Spitz, who won seven golds at the Munich Olympics.
"It's the Olympics; if you're not ready to swim at that time, don't come, " said Michael Phelps and added: "Stay at home and watch TV."
