Swimmer David Davies is out of the Great Britain squad Swimmer David Davies has been withdrawn from Great Britain's 64-strong squad for this month's European Championships.
David Davies, 21, from Wales, had surgery on an infected foot in May and his recovery has been slower than was hoped for.
Swimming coach Dave Haller confirmed that David Davies would miss the event in Budapest, Hungary, on 26 July, as a participant although he has been invited to travel over.
"David has missed too much training to consider racing in Budapest," Dave Haller explained to SwimNews.
"If this was going to happen this was probably the best time. It's been good for him to have a bit of a rest. He'll bounce back and probably be better for it," Dave Haller added.
David Davies, who has just gone back to his Barry home from a training camp in Malta, now hopes to be back to his best performance and fitness in readiness for the World Championships in Melbourne next March.
