Swimmer David Davies gets place in World Championships
Swimmer David Davies, after months of injury and illness, has managed to earn a place in next year's World Championships team.
David Davies, 21, won the 1500m freestyle at the Dutch Championships in a time of 14 minutes 55.46 secs.
"I'm so pleased it's out of the way and I can concentrate on preparing for the World Championships," said Olympic, World and Commonwealth medallist David Davies, adding: "I've worked so hard since returning in August and it's paid off now."
David Davies was making a comeback to swimming after having an operation on a foot infection at the beginning of May.
Elsewhere the women's 200m butterfly saw triple success for British swimmers with City of Birmingham's Terri Dunning winning in two minutes 10.48 secs, in front of Borough of Stockton duo Jess Dickons and Jemma Lowe and Loughborough's Ross Davenport came second behind former Olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband in the men's 200m freestyle swimming event.
