Wrestler Chris Benoit and family found dead in Georgia
The dead body of world famous WWE wrestler Chris Benoit was discovered in his home in Fayetteville, Georgia, along with those of his wife, Nancy Daus and his 7-year old son, Daniel.
Police would not give any details on how Canada born Chris Benoit, 40, his wife and son had died, apart from saying they were not shot.
The three bodies were found in different rooms and police investigating the deaths are considering it might have been a double murder and suicide, in which Chris Benoit killed his family over the weekend and then killed himself.
Chris Benoit had mysteriously withdrawn from a World Wrestling Entertainment pay per view event just a day earlier. This was a real surprise because Chris Benoit had been expected to win the Extreme Championship Wrestling world champion title at the event.
Chris Benoit had earned the nicknames "The Crippler" and "The Rabid Wolverine," due to his very aggressive style of wrestling.
In 2004, Chris Benoit had been named Wrestler of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine.
Chris Benoit had devoted his life to wrestling and once is reported to have said: "Wrestling is my mistress. It's my passion. It defines who I am as a person."
WWE cancelled its scheduled live 3-hour Monday Night RAW programme, and WWE chairman Vince McMahon, who began the wrestling show in an empty arena gave out the tragic news that Chris Benoit and his family had died.
