UK squash player Tania Bailey has knee surgery
British squash player Tania Bailey will miss the European Team Championships and the British Open because she has had surgery to repair a torn cartilage in her right knee.
Stamford in Lincolnshire's Tania Bailey, who is currently world number five, had to retire due to injury from the National Championships in February.
Tania Bailey explained on her website: "I have been having problems for over a year. I am devastated to be missing the Europeans and the British Open as they are two of my favourite events."
And Tania Bailey also said: "My knee has been getting increasingly worse recently and although the physio and conditioning coach have tried everything it just hasn't improved.
The British Open is beginning on 6 May but that will be too soon for Tania Bailey.
"It depends exactly what the surgeon finds when he does the operation as to how long the recovery will be but I will have intense rehab after so hopefully it wont be too long," Tania Bailey added.
