Squash star Madeline Perry loses at Women's World Open
Getting as far as the semi-finals of the Women's World Open was the end of the line for Britain's three quarter-finalist squash players when home favourite and eighth seed Madeline Perry lost 9-5 10-8 9-5 in Belfast to US 14th seed Natalie Grainger.
Australian fourth seed Natalie Grinham ended the chances of English seventh seed Tania Bailey, by defeating her 9-5 10-8 9-5, whilst her third-seeded sister Rachael Grinham, beat Bailey's compatriot Laura-Jane Lengthorn, the 11th seed, 9-2 9-3 9-6 in just 34 minutes.
Madeline Perry said after her defeat by Natalie Grainger. "I'm gutted. I really thought I could win ? it was a brilliant opportunity for me to get into a world semi-final.
"But she just played too well for me. She was absolutely flying. When she's playing well she's pretty intimidating.
"But to have the opportunity to play the World Open in your own country is an experience I'll never forget."
