Snooker star Stuart Bingham beats Steve Davis
Snooker star Stuart Bingham managed to hold out against his opponent Steve Davis, and eventually securing a 10-8 victory in the first round of the World Championship in Sheffield.
Steve Davis, a six-time winner in the past, had been behind and was losing at a score of 8-3, but he made a comeback to level at 8-8. However, it wasn't to last because Stuart Bingham gained the upper hand in the game and won.
Steve Davis, 50, said afterwards: "It's a bit annoying, I felt as if I let it slip. After getting back into the match and playing decent, it's a bitter pill to then mess up a couple of golden opportunities in the last two frames."
And Davis added: "It's very disappointing, even though at one stage I would have settled for showing a bit of pride."
The victor of the contest Stuart Bingham said proudly: "I'm almost speechless. It's a big scalp for me."
