Snooker star Stephen Maguire beats Shaun Murphy in China
Scottish snooker star Stephen Maguire scraped a 10-9 win against Shaun Murphy in the final of the China Open in Beijing.
It was a tightly fought game but 26-year-old Stephen Maguire kept his focus while under pressure to earn his fourth ranking title of his career in the sport.
Shaun Murphy proved to be a tough opponent but Stephen Maguire still managed to win the £50,000 top prize, plus he got another £22,000 for his 147 maximum break in the semi-finals.
Stephen Maguire said proudly after the game: "I knew it would tough but I was happy with the way I held it together at the end of the match. I've been practising really hard, but I admit there were definitely a few nerves there. It's a fantastic feeling to win."
Earlier on this season Stephen Maguire had won the Northern Ireland Trophy but he then was defeated by Ronnie O'Sullivan in the UK Championship final in Telford.
