Snooker star Ali Carter beats Peter Ebdon at The Crucible
English snooker player Ali Carter has qualified for his first World Championship semi-final with a 13-9 win against Peter Ebdon at The Crucible.
Carter, 28, already had a 9-7 overnight lead and he kept up his winning performance to claim the 13-9 victory.
Peter Ebdon managed to win the first frame but Ali Carter soon came back fighting to take four of the next five and become the winner, and he now goes forward to play against either Stephen Maguire or Joe Perry.
Carter afterwards explained that he managed to win although he hadn't slept well having only had a few hours sleep and he said: "I don't need any, I'm pumped up on adrenalin."
And Ebdon had no hard feelings about losing and admitted: "The better man won on the day. There were three or four occasions when I should have cleared up to win frames but all credit to Ali, he put me under a lot of pressure and was a worthy winner."
