Snooker player Judd Trump makes Crucible debut
Young snooker player Judd Trump gave an impressive performance at his Crucible debut when he was just behind 2005 champion Shaun Murphy 5-4 at the end of the first session.
Judd Trump, just 17, had got off to a poor start with breaks of 81, 96 and 52 giving his opponent Shaun Murphy a commanding 3-0 lead, however, things were about to change when unforced errors allowed Judd Trump to make a 45 break and pull a frame back.
Spurred on by this success, Judd Trump was felling more confident as Shaun Murphy's level dropped, and this reflected in his performance, which saw him recover to a one-frame deficit.
Judd Trump managed a 21 break but a missed black let Shaun Murphy back into the lead and he took full advantage with three frames one after the other.
Judd Trump then battled back to 3-2 behind before a 73 from Shaun Murphy once again gave him control of the game.
A poorly played eighth frame went as an advantage to Shaun Murphy, but a 57 in the last frame made sure that Judd Trump got through to the second session.
