Scottish snooker star Stephen Maguire beats Fergal O'Brien
Scottish snooker player Stephen Maguire has just won his first ranking title in three years with a 9-5 score against Fergal O'Brien in the final of the Northern Ireland Trophy, which was held in Belfast.
Stephen Maguire, 26, was leading by 4-3 lead following a tense start to the first session of the match.
Stephen Maguire shared the opening two frames of the final session with his opponent Fergal O'Brien before he went three clear for a new 7-4 lead.
Fergal O'Brien managed to pinch one back but a missed red cost him in the 13th and then Stephen Maguire clenched his victory in the 14th with a 56.
Stephen Maguire said proudly: "It is unbelievable winning this event, it really is another dream come true," and he added: "I'm over the moon, it has been a long time coming."
Stephen Maguire will now srep up from fourth to third in the world snooker rankings.
