Scottish darts player Robert Thornton beats Darryl Fitton
Scottish veteran darts player Robert Thornton came up with a performance good enough to enable him to beat opponent Darryl Fitton 7-5 at the Winmau World Masters final at Bridlington
Robert Thornton took the final three sets after getting into a bit of trouble earlier on when Darryl Fitton was in the lead.
Darryl Fitton claimed an impressive 170 finish in the second leg of the fifth set and he had managed a 5-4 lead at one stage before Robert Thornton battled his way back and then went on to win.
By winning the match Robert Thornton has gained a place in the BDO World Championships at Frimley Green, which are being played in January 2008.
Darryl Fitton had defeated Jon Walton earlier in the afternoon and had started well against Robert Thornton but the Scotsman nevertheless overpowered him.
