Norwich athlete Hadley Jones wins weightlifting gold

weights Norwich-based weightlifter and athlete Hadley Jones amazed the powerlifting world at the WDFPF Singles Olympic Championships by coming home from Italy with a total of four gold medals and three world records.

Hadley Jones has become England's first 18-year-old World Singles Powerlifting Champion.

Hadley Jones was taking part at the singles Olympic championship of the World Drug Free Power Lifting Federation, in the 67.5kg category for 18-year-olds and he won in the equipped squat and unequipped squat on the first day of the event.

Just a day later he came back, ignoring all advice, to take part in the dead-lift categories, where he successfully lifted 185kg in both the equipped and unequipped disciplines.

A very proud Hadley Jones afterwards said: "I feel like a champion, for a young boy at 18 in the Olympic power lifting and you're four-time champion - one is amazing, but four? I'm speechless."
