British gymnast Beth Tweddle through to three finals
British gymnast Beth Tweddle qualified for three finals but her impressive performance and results could not help Great Britain's women reach the final of the World Championships team event.
Beth Tweddle, 22, who won bronze in the bars in 2005, will take part in the all-round, bars and floor individual finals but the British team, who need to finish in the top eight, came 11th in qualifying in Aarhus, Denmark.
Britain nevertheless qualified for the 2007 championships and the chance to secure their place at the 2008 Olympics.
Liverpudlian gymnast Beth Tweddle qualified in fourth place in the all-round competition with a haul of 59.975 points and will be hoping to make up for last year's disappointment when she just missed out on an historic bronze medal.
Defending champion Chellsie Memmel, who won the qualifying section with a total of 61.350 in spite of struggling with aninjured foot, is the favourite to win the title and her fellow American Jana Bieger and 15-year-old Italian Vanessa Ferrari will also be big threats in the final too.
