Trabolgan out of the Sandown King George VI Chase
Leading fancy Trabolgan has been ruled out of the King George VI Chase at Sandown on Boxing Day.
The seven-year-old horse, trained by Nicky Henderson, was an impressive
winner of last month's Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury but a scan on
Wednesday revealed a tendon problem.
"The horse will continue gentle exercise and we will reassess him in two to four weeks," said Nicky Henderson.
At that point Nicky Henderson said a decision would be made on whether
the horse will continue his preparations towards March's Cheltenham
Gold Cup.
"It is a bitter pill to swallow and the owner Trevor Hemmings and his
manager Mick Meagher are fully conversant with the situation," Nicky
Henderson added.
"Obviously this is a blow and a worry to us all and only amplifies the highs and lows of racing.
"The one thing we have to appreciate is that this is still a very young
horse and it goes without saying his future is the only thought in our
mind at the moment.
"But this does not necessarily yet rule him out of the Gold Cup and we
will expect to be able to give further news around about Christmas."
