Irish jockey Paul Carberry pleads not guilty
Irish jockey Paul Carberry has pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace on a flight from Spain to Dublin in October.
Paul Carberry, 31, who won the Aintree Grand National on Bobbyjo in
1999, is accused of setting fire to a friend's newspaper on an Aer
Lingus flight on 1 October and the judge at Swords District Court in
Dublin set the trial for 22 May, 2006.
Paul Carberry is charged with engaging in threatening, abusive or
insulting behaviour under Ireland's Air Navigation and Transport Act.
Paul Carberry was Irish champion jockey in 2002, when he became the
first man since Charlie Swan in 1996-1997 to ride a century of winners.
Paul Carberry was riding Best Mate at Exeter on 1 November when the
triple Cheltenham Gold Cup winner collapsed and died on his comeback
from injury.
