Former champion jockey Kieren Fallon fails drugs test
Former champion jockey Kieren Fallon has tested positive in a doping test and been banned from racing for 18 months.
The ban was issued by the French racing authority France Galop and it was after Kieren Fallon, 42, gave a positive B sample following Myboycharlie's win at Deauville in August 2007.
It was revealed that Kieren Fallon had tested positive for a banned substance, thought to be cocaine, the day after his race-fixing trial had collapsed - he was found not guilty of conspiracy to defraud at the Old Bailey in December.
Kieren Fallon was before France Galop officials on Wednesday for failing the test on 19 August when he won the Group One Darley Prix Morny on Myboycharlie.
The 18-month ban is set to begin early in February and will run until August 2009 but Kieren Fallon will appeal against it.
Henri Pouretm a representative of France Galop explained: "The jockey Kieren Fallon has been suspended for a period of 18 months. However, he has already appealed and that is the reason why no statement has been issued by France Galop. Now our appeal commission at France Galop will meet and examine the appeal."
