Woman golfer Laura Davies ready for World Cup
Woman golfer Laura Davies ready for a return to action when she and
fellow-player Kirsty Taylor will be representing England in the World
Cup, which is due to start in South Africa on Friday.
Laura Davies hasn't won a tournament in two years but she will be competing in Sun City after an eight-week break.
"I've not hit a long shot in the past two months but I've worked on my short game in the back garden," Laura Davies said.
Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie represent Scotland, with Becky Morgan and Becky Brewerton playing for Wales.
At last year's inaugural tournament at the South African Fancourt
Resort, and which was won by Japan, England's team of Laura Davies and
Karen Stupples finished ninth.
However, Laura Davies has been given a boost of confidence from having
already won at this year's venue, Sun City's Player course.
"This week will be a case of going out to make as many birdies as possible," added Laura Davies.
"Fancourt was a fantastic course but it was just so difficult.
"I think this one is also a great challenge and everyone seems very happy with it.
"The Ladies' European Tour had a tournament here five years ago and it is in excellent shape."
