Wes Short Jr. beat Jim Furyk in Las Vegas
Wes Short Jr. has beaten Jim Furyk in a play-off to clinch his maiden PGA Tour title in the Las Vegas Championship.
American Wes Short Jr., 41, won at the second extra hole after firing a
final-round 66 to join the US Ryder Cup star Furyk (65) at 21 under.
Harrison Frazar (69) and third-round leader Ted Purdy (71), both Americans, were tied third on 19 under.
Double major champion John Daly finished 14 under, while Wales' Phillip Price (73) faded to 12 under.
Wes Short Jr. began the week 176th on the money list and battled to finish in the top 125 to secure his card for next season.
Wes Short Jr. only gained entry to the event following Arron
Oberholser's withdrawal but he scooped a first prize of $720,000 and a
two-year PGA Tour exemption.
