Welsh golfer and Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam earmarks a wildcard
Welsh golf star and Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam says he has already earmarked one of his wildcards although he is hoping he doesn't have to offer the other to Paul Broadhurst.
Ian Woosnam, 48, is a good friend of Paul Broadhurst, 40, who is just outside the automatic qualifying places in 11th but Broadhurst is struggling for form with five events left to qualify him.
"It's difficult with Broady. I might get criticised if I pick him, or if I leave him out. It would be easier if he qualifies," explained Ian Woosnam.
"The trouble is that I obviously have one person in mind already but there are a number of players who can get the last one [wildcard]. That could be a list of 10 people.
"It's going to be a difficult job, someone is going to be happy, someone is going to be sad, but it has to be done.
"I have said that people who are in form are in with a better chance of getting a wildcard. It won't be [about] experience because we have a lot of young guys coming into the team who have played fantastic," Ian Woosnam also said.
