US golf star Tiger Woods has delayed talking to police

tiger woodsUS golf star Tiger Woods had still not issued a statement or talked to police about the car accident that took place outside his Florida home on Friday until Sunday.

Woods was reported to have been injured badly enough to have become semi-conscious at the time of the incident that occurred when his car crashed into a fire hydrant and tree.

Woods' wife Elin broke a window of the car with a golf club in an effort to get her husband out of the vehicle and after she got him out he was taken into hospital but then released.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt Kim Montes said two police officers had tried to talk to Woods on Friday evening but they were told by his wife that he was asleep so they agreed to come back on the Saturday.

However, Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, released a statement saying that the couple were not available to speak to police on that day. Police were given to understand that he would talk to them on Sunday.

Woods issued a statement on his website that says that the only person responsible for the car crash "was me".
