US golf star Tiger Woods beaten in US Open
American golf star Tiger Woods has been beaten at the US Open this year and he blamed poor putting as the reason why he lost out.
Woods came four places behind Lucas Glover, who was a surprise winner of the contest at Bethpage.
Bad weather didn't help matters and Woods was forced to accept sixth place along with fellow American Hunter Mahan and Danish golf star Soren Hansen with a level par total of 280.
33-year-old Woods had been a winner at the US Open the last time that it was staged at Bethpage back in 2002 so it was a disappointment for him not to have won this time around.
In fact, for the first time in five years, despite being world number one in the golf ratings, Woods does not hold any of the sport's four majors.
Nevertheless, Woods has managed to be in the top 10 in every event he has taken part in since he made his comeback earlier this year after being away from the action for eight months following knee surgery.
