Tiger Woods wins at Buick International beating Jose Maria Olazabal
Tiger Woods has made an impressive start to the year by beating Jose
Maria Olazabal at the Buick Invitational. This was the first tournament
that Tiger Woods has played at in 2006.
This win means that 30-year-old Tiger Woods has won the title for a fourth time, which is a new record.
Tiger Woods, Jose Maria Olazabal and Australian rookie Nathan Green went into the play-off after they all tied on 10 under.
Nathan Green bogeyed the first extra hole to drop out of the contest
and then Tiger Woods parred the second before Jose Maria Olzabal pushed
his putt wide from just four feet.
Nathan Green and Tiger Woods both posted a final round of 72 to make the play-off while Jose Maria Olazabal closed with a 69.
Nathan Green, 30, found that his nerves failed him as he scuffed a
second chip shot out of the rough to run up a bogey six on the trio's
return to the 18th.
Tiger Woods had a seven-foot birdie putt chance but pulled his attempt
wide to join Jose Maria Olazabal at the second extra hole on the 16th.
