Tiger Woods pulls out of Chevron World Challenge
US golf star Tiger Woods has announced that he is pulling out of the Chevron World Challenge, even though he has hosted the event for the last nine years, because of the injuries he suffered in a recent car accident.
33-year-old Woods was hurt on Friday morning when his car crashed into a fire hydrant and tree outside his house in Florida. He was rescued from the vehicle by his wife Elin and was semi-conscious with facial injuries.
Woods had been taken into hospital but later on he was released.
On his website there is a statement saying: "I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week."
He has also stated that he will not be taking part in any more golf this year.
On Sunday, again on his website he condemned what he called "unfounded rumours" that have been circulating about the car crash.
