Tiger Woods beats Henrik Stenson to face Stewart Cink
Tiger Woods defeated Henrik Stenson to go through to the WGC Match Play Championship final where he will be playing against compatriot golfer Stewart Cink.
World number one, Tiger Woods, came up with an impressive 15-foot birdie putt on the 17th to beat Henrik Stenson.
And meanwhile, Stewart Cink defeated Justin Leonard to qualify for Sunday's 36-hole final at the Arizona tournament.
A delighted Stewart Cink is reported to have said: "It feels great just to get this far. I've never got this far before. It's a blast. I started so hot. Physically I was running out of gas and mentally I started thinking ahead a little bit."
Stewart Cink was victorious with the fourth and fifth holes with birdies but he missed a five-foot birdie putt at the sixth, however, he managed to eagle the par-4 seventh and to birdie the par-3 eighth to stretch his margin.
Justin Leonard battled his way to win his first hole and that left him three-down with three to play, but he then missed a 40-foot birdie putt at the 16th and in so doing he lost the game.
It will be interesting to see how Tiger Woods fares against his new opponent, Stewart Cink.
