Teenage golfer Michelle Wie's worst score
Teenage golf star Michelle Wie has posted her worst score at a men's tournament and ended the second day of the 84 Lumber Classic bottom of the field, 23 shots behind the leading players.
Michelle Wie, 16, who has only made one cut in a male golf event, carded a nine over par 81 to finish up on 14 over and Ryan Moore and 2003 Open winner Ben Curtis led the event on nine under, one ahead of a group of three.
Hawaiian golfer Michelle Wie's 36-hole total was her worst score in 11 men's events and she never recovered after dropping six shots in her opening six holes.
Michelle Wie's disappointing performance was just a week after she came bottom of the field on 15 over at the European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre.
But she was undaunted and said: "I'm not going to give up," and added, "I feel like I'm progressing, I'm getting better, even though my score didn't show it.
"I've just had a bad two weeks, that's it. My shots are actually going to the fairway now and they are feeling solid."
