Swedish golfer Pierre Fulke retires
Pierre Fulke, who was born in Nyköping, is a Swedish golfer who played on the European Tour, but now he has decided to announce his retirement after 18 years to concentrate on course design.
Pierre Fulke, 36, had been part of Europe's Ryder Cup-winning team in 2002 and was victorious at the 2000 Volvo Masters, which was one of three European Tour victories in his golfing career.
But Pierre Fulke had not been doing that well in recent years - back in 2004 he slipped to 134th place on the Order of Merit, but he managed to hang on to his tour card for 2005 because of a five year exemption for his Volvo Masters victory.
The same year Pierre Fulke recovered some of his form and he finished 49th on the Order of Merit but then his career went downhill again and he missed the majority of the 2006 season due to injury.
Explaining why he was retiring, Pierre Fulke said: "I'm not tired of golf, but I'm tired of the tour and travel," and he added: "Now it's time to explore other areas. I'm involved in several new projects in Sweden as a course designer."
