Swedish golfer Henrik Stenson and Argentinean Ricardo Gonzalez lead at Qatar
Swedish golfer Henrik Stenson and Argentinean Ricardo Gonzalez shot
six-under-par 66s for a share of the lead after the first round of the
Qatar Masters in Doha.
Defending champion Ernie Els shot a 71 while world number two Vijay Singh is off the pace after a 73.
Henrik Stenson is on a winning streak after finishing runner-up to Chris DiMarco in last week's Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
And Ernie Els is set to equal Bernhard Langer's European Tour record of 69 consecutive cuts.
English amateur Danny Denison, 20, is in a tie for third after firing
six birdies but he was not getting carried away after an incredible
start to his first professional tournament.
"I just tried to block out everything that was going on around me and
tried to play my own game," said Danny Denison who comes from
Yorkshire.
