Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam to retire
Swedish golf star Annika Sorenstam has announced that she will be retiring at the end of the season.
37-year-old Sorenstam, who is the world number two, has won 72 LPGA tournaments and 10 major titles in her incredible career - she dominated women's golf from the mid-90s, winning three US Women's Opens, three LPGA Championships, three Nabisco Championships as well as a Women's British Open.
But now after all this Annika Sorenstam wants to concentrate on business as well as starting a family with fiancé Mike McGee.
Sorenstam announced her plans at a media conference ahead of this week's Sybase Classic in New Jersey.
She had battled against injuries last year and was beaten to the top of the rankings by Mexican tennis star Lorena Ochoa.
With that in mind Annika Sorenstam explained: "I wanted to leave on my terms when it felt right. I didn't want an injury to take me away from this game. Now I feel at peace."
