Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam, British Laura Davies and Hawaiian Michelle Wie at Evian Masters
Swedish golf star Annika Sorenstam and Britain's Laura Davies are both hoping for a record third Evian Masters crown this week.
Laura Davies won the event in 1995 and 1996, but has not had a tournament triumph since the 2004 Women's Australian Open, whilst Annika Sorenstam took the title in 2000 and 2002 and is fresh from her third US Women's Open victory just two weeks ago.
Paula Creamer won by eight shots from Michelle Wie and Lorena Ochoa in 2005, and all three women golfers are taking part in the second richest event in women's golf.
Michelle Wie, 16, is making her third appearance in the tournament, but her first as a professional and it is also her first outing since she was forced to withdraw because of heat exhaustion in the second round of the John Deere Classic on the men's PGA Tour two weeks ago.
"It taught me that I have to be very careful and take more rest," said Michelle Wie who is seeking a breakthrough first professional win.
"It would be great to win here this week, but I'll not be forcing anything. If it happens, it happens," Michelle Wie said.
