Stuart Appleby says Michelle Wie can't beat the men
Australian Stuart Appleby has strongly criticised teenage golf sensation Michelle Wie's continued bid to compete with male golf stars on the men's tour.
Michelle Wie is making her 13th attempt against the men at the US Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii on Thursday, however, a critical Stuart Appleby said: "She came five years too early to try to play the men's tour - she should just let it go for now."
Stuart Appleby continued: "She's not ready for it. She's certainly not proving anything except that she can't play with the men at her level right now."
And Stuart Appleby has a point because in Michelle Wie's last four tournaments against the men, including her last place at the European Masters in Switzerland, her rounds have been 75, 77, 78, 79, 77, 81, 81 and 80.
The one successful cut Michelle Wie has made against men was last year in South Korea, but the opponents she had then were nowhere near the level of those she faces this week.
Whilst Michelle Wie's valiant efforts are to be applauded she has a tough battle on her hands.
