Scottish golfer Gary Orr withdraws from French Open
Scottish golfer Gary Orr has had to abandon the French Open because of back pains he developed after firing a first round level-par score of 71. Gary Orr said: "I don't know what I did, but I hurt it warming up yesterday."
Former British Masters champion, Gary Orr, closed the opening day six shots off the pace set by South African golfer James Kamte and Welsh player Kyron Sullivan.
Gary Orr was successful with the first two holes of his second round, but after two shots on the long third he decided it would be better to abandon his game.
But Gary Orr is still optimistic about his immediate diary and said: "This is a big week, but there are more coming up, and I've got the Open qualifying at Sunningdale on Monday. I'm hoping I'll still be okay for that,"
"It's disappointing. I've had problems with my back in the past, but not for a couple of years. I just couldn't get through the ball.
"Although I had some treatment and painkillers it was only getting worse."
