Paraguayan golfers Celeste Troche and Julieta Granada win
Paraguayan women golfers Celeste Troche and Julieta Granada made a surprise win in the Women's World Cup of Golf when they finished with a total score of 279 at Sun City, South Africa.
Celeste Troche, 25, and Julieta Granada, 20, were a total of seven shots ahead of American opponents Pat Hurst and Julie Inkster.
Celeste Troche and Julieta Granada hit a seven-under-par 65 in the final round on the par-72 Gary Player Country Club course.
Celeste Troche and Julieta Granada had begun with a four-stroke lead but lost a shot at the par-five first, where the best they managed was a bogey six, however, they soon made up for it afterwards with eight birdies in the next 17 holes.
"Hopefully this win will boost golf back home in Paraguay and get the young girls interested," said Julieta Granada.
"I made it one of my goals last year to get Paraguay into the World Cup. Celeste was fantastic and an inspiration to me. Our team spirit was simply amazing," Julieta Granada also said.
