Michelle Wie ready to reply to critics with an Open win
Teenage golf sensation Michelle Wie says she is ready to reply to her critics with a win at the Women's British Open at Royal Lytham.
Michelle Wie, 16, tied for second at last week's Evian Masters but remains without a victory as a pro, and has been criticised for competing in events on the PGA Tour.
However, in her defence Michelle Wie said: "I don't really care what people say about my game. It's about my expectations, and I expect to win.
"I'm ready for (a first professional title) now, and I think its coming."
Michelle Wie has four runner-ups and four third-place finishes in the last 18 months and although she is frustrated that she still hasn't won a title, she is happy with her consistent performance.
Michelle Wie said: "If you look at the overall year I feel this is the best I've ever played.
"Obviously, I wish I could have won a couple of events. But at least I'm not winning one event and then missing the cut in another.
"I am consistently up there and I'm consistently playing good golf."
Michelle Wie went on to say that she now looks forward to the challenge of links golf at Royal Lytham following her first look at the Open course.
