Michelle Wie's happy at making her first men's cut

michellewie American golfer Michelle Wie is happy to have made her first cut at a men's professional event when she carded a three-under-par 69 at the Asian Tour's SK Telecom Open in South Korea.

Michelle Wie, 16, hit four birdies and a bogey to finish the first two rounds at five-under in her eighth men's event.

Teenage golf sensation Michelle Wie is the second woman ever to make the halfway cut at a Korean men's event after Se Ri Pak did so too three years ago.

"I still can't believe that I made the cut," Michelle Wie said. "I will be even happier when it all sinks in."

Michelle Wie, who is also hoping to be in this year's US Open, said she was trying for a solid finish in the tournament and that she was looking forward to playing against the men in America.

"I want to challenge the PGA tour in the US and make it into the top 10," added Michelle Wie, who will now take part in a local qualifier for the US Open later on in May.
