K Club bans mobile phones and cameras from Ryder Cup
The K Club are banning mobile phones and cameras from the Ryder Cup next month.
Some 40,000 golf fans are expected to attend each day of the 36th Ryder Cup tournament between Europe and the United States from September 22 to 24 but they will not be allowed to carry these items and fans will also face security checks and have to show passports for identification.
"This decision was taken to ensure that the matches take place without the risk of disturbance to the players," a spokesman for the European Tour explained.
"Mobile phones are banned for all six days of the tournament (three practice days and three tournament days)," the European Tour spokesman added.
Cameras will be allowed on the practice days, September 19 to 21, however, but not on match days.
Roads within a five-mile radius of the course will be closed off for the entire week and spectators are required to use special park-and-ride facilities.
