Irish golfer Padraig Harrington wins at Alfred Dunhill Links
Irish golf star Padraig Harrington has won his 10th European Tour career title with a victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews.
Padraig Harrington carded a final round of 68 to wrap up a five-shot triumph and the first prize of £427,441, which he received lifts him into second place on the Order of Merit, £147,900 behind Paul Casey with two events still to go.
Padraig Harrington started the final round a shot behind Welsh golfer Bradley Dredge but straight away he scored a birdie on the first.
Then Bradley Dredge went back in the lead with a birdie on the fifth after an excellent long bunker shot but Padraig Harrington pegged him back again on the ninth.
The key hole for Padraig Harrington was the 11th where Bradley Dredge found the bunker off the tee and had to play out backwards on his way to a double-bogey five.
Padraig Harrington holed from 10 feet for a birdie two, allowing him to cruise to his second win in this event in four years with Bradley Dredge, Anthony Wall and American Edward Loar five shots behind.
"The Order of Merit is a huge deal," said Padraig Harrington.
