Irish golfer Damien McGrane wins China Open
Irish golf star Damien McGrane has won his first European Tour title by claiming a victory at the China Open by nine strokes.
37-year-old Damien McGrane had gained a three-stroke lead as he went into the final round and he then carded a one-over 73 to close the game with a 10-under total of 278.
Weather conditions were bad on the last day due to rain and the rest of the players had scorecards with many bogeys, but despite this McGrane didn't let any of it bother his game and he scored two birdies and three bogeys before going on to claim victory.
Damien McGrane said afterwards: "The weather, if not on my side, helped stop other players making a charge at my lead. Once I made as many pars as possible, the tournament was mine."
McGrane was rewarded with the winner's cheque of £183,500.
