Irish golf star Padraig Harrington misses the cut

Irish golf star Padraig Harrington is continuing his recent downturn in fortune because he has now missed his fifth cut in a row after he carded a 75 in the second round of play in the French Open.

He had been pinning all his hopes on recovering past form for this last but one event before he goes ahead to defend his Open title on 16 July.

Harrington had to admit that he had been uncomfortable with his playing and he finished his game on a disappointing five over par.

Harrington had last been active on the golf course when he played four rounds of part of the Players Championship in Florida in early May. He has failed to secure a top-10 finish since January this year.

There only remains the Irish PGA championship to improve his performance before he is off to Turnberry where he is hoping to win a third Open title.
