Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh wins China Open
Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh shot a final round of 70 to reach 10 under and claimed a victory at the China Open in Beijing and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano from Spain was second.
Jeev Milkha Singh, 34, was one shot behind leader David Lynn going into the final day at the Honghua Golf Club but the English golfer only managed a 73 to take third place.
Defending champion Paul Casey also had a very poor final round, which left him tied for fourth position.
It was a first European Tour win for Jeev Milkha Singh but back in 1997, he became the first Indian to qualify for the European Tour. However, severely hampered by wrist injuries, he played without success until 2002 before he made a return to the Asian Tour.
"I just can't explain this feeling, it's been a long seven years," said Jeev Milkha Singh, whose last Asian Tour victory came in Thailand in 1999.
"I've let so many tournaments go in the last few years and went in to today with reverse psychology, thinking that if I didn't win it didn't matter," Jeev Milkha Singh added.
